No, I don't think you missed my meaning, but I see LILA more as saying:
"Let's take Quality on faith and see what we get." Since what we get is
pretty impressive, it justifies the faith (not absolutely -- nothing
can). What it is careful not to do, though, is answer the question "what
is Quality?".

Nice saying (yours?), except my faith (that pedantic spoilsport) says
that transcendence is the (inarticulable) answer. I don't think Life was
meant to be a mystery. It just is to us sinners (and yes, I mean
"sinners" in a non-traditional way as well: roughly "Those who have to
read about Quality in a book" :-)
