DMB,
I was guessing Chomsky.
But I would like to say this, now that you've put some of Rorty's political
side out on the table. One thing that Rorty makes very clear in his
writing is that we cannot confuse a person's private, philosophical
projects with their public, political projects. This is key in Rorty's
advocation of Nietzsche and Heidegger, because, while he agrees with them
on many philosophical issues, he most certainly does not agree with them
about politics.
The moral of the story is that you can agree with postmodernism or Rorty
and be a conservative or you can be a liberal, and agree with everything
DMB just quoted from Rorty, and not be a pragmatist or go along with the
"postmodern critique of reason".
