Hello Sam,
Sorry for jumping in here, but this interests me a great deal. If i have
understood what you are proposing, you prefer to condition your view with
definitions of individuals over conditioning your view with definitions of
intellect? This feels low quality to me, so i cannot quite put my finger on
why this should be the case. I feel individuals are constructions to a large
degree and they don't have discrete boundaries; indeed, nothing has discrete
boundaries? However, people may be viewed as evolved patterns of values, and
to this extent the individual begins to disappear. An individual becomes a
whirl in the flowing stream of evolution; corresponding with patterns of
beauty in the All, but not isolated and observing that which is other than
its own transitory structure.
Intellect points away from the whirl and to the stream beyond - this is an
aesthetic continuum from which our values are selected. In ZMM Pirsig notes
the discovery of the Benzene ring and how it was a solution discovered in a
dream. That is where the dynamic of intellect lies Sam, in our dreams?
Peter.
