OK by me. Purpose with a capital P as opposed to small p human
purpose. Nice move.

Now we're getting down to real philosophy. Why is there something
rather than nothing?

Yes. Science runs smack into a monster self-contradiction by ascribing
cause and effect explanations to all phenomena except what they claim
occurs by chance. For instance, the Big Bang is explained as a
causeless "fluctuation" in the quantum soup. So succeeding events fall
into causation patterns for no cause whatsoever, a case of having your
cake and eating it, too. For a discipline that prides itself on its logic,
you would think they'd recognize and want to do something about this
metaphysical dilemma.
So for me, the science answer to why something, namely, "It was an
accident," doesn't wash. A better "truth" for me about "Why existence?"
is DQ. You can build a huge edifice of explanation with Quality as your
Rosetta Stone. By comparison science, with its reliance on "chance
and necessity" falls far short, although it does a lot of good on its way
to a dead end.
Existence=Quality=Purpose? Looks "good" to me. :-)
