Poorly developed individuals or not well guided chidren have not developed
the intellectual values , permitting them to make distinction between social
patterns of low or high values. If such individuals are confronted with too
much violence on TV , in their mind the low value patterns can in exterme
cases like these take control. Which is what I think has happened and which
is why I am very careful with what my children watch on TV. We should be
aware of the fact , that the evolution towards SQ patterns of higher value
does not take place in a few years , it is an evolutionary process that will
go on for thousands of years and during this time, there can be regressions.
So it can happen that , while we discovered the MOQ and the evolution of SQ
towards more DQ, in our lifetime we might observe just the opposite. I
always try to think in both long-term as short term developments. >>
welcome to the discussion, Karl. Yes, I think that is an excellent
explanation of the situation. I would continue your line of thinking in that
the children created their own pattern of Social Quality from the lack of a
nondestructive Static Social Quality. With my experience with gangs, I can
say that if the Static Social Quality is not sufficiently evident, it is
created to a limited degree. What results however, is obviously low-quality-
where might makes right, where respect is a term of social pecking
order(though some may argue this is always the case), where territory is
fought over, and members live a life of reward and punishment. This is
definately a regression.
But you could also say that the brujo was a regression in social behavior to
those in power. It's practically impossible to draw a line where regression
and dynamic behavior meet. I would say that dynamic growth generally comes as
a continuation of one static pattern that is at odds to another more
established static pattern. So whatever static pattern exists you want it to
continue where it is established. You never know where the next Gandhi or
Einstein might be working. Most people agree that the gang problem has its
roots several decades ago at a time of inequity. It is still possible that it
will help create a better Social Quality.
This seems contrary to my last post, but what I'm advocating is not just
the continuation of the traditional Static Patterns. It is the continuation
of Static Patterns within the culture that created the static pattern. What I
hope develops is that strong cultural Static Social Patterns can somehow act
Dynamically with each other without a conflict and without a domination of one
over the other. But what we see is a proliferation of "anything goes"
mentality that says any minority voice must be heard and not contradicted.
This is the problem of "political correctness" and must be adjusted.
I must believe that I can help these cultures continue their Dynamic
growth. Otherwise the violent children will grow into the adults that I will
meet on the street. How they will treat me and be treated by society depends
on the growth they can make
