Yup, sad isn't it. What we have is a load of rigid and static social
patterns of EGO and NARCISSISM trying to devour the intellects that want
to break free.

Point your browser at any newsgroup or mailing list and you'll have no
problem at all finding online communities where people babble nonsense
and are more interested in scoring points off one another than having a
proper discussion. Nothing new about that at all.

But, suppose a group of people managed to have a coherent, intelligent
discussion on a mailing list. Suppose newcomers found it easy to join
in. Suppose people asked themselves "what is the value of this post?"
before hitting the send button. Suppose there was a group where people
LISTENED to one another. Now that would be something special.

Suggestions for next month's topic are hereby invited.
