Jonathan:
I have to tell you and the gang something before the cat starts to rot.
Let me confess right up front that this is mere name-dropping and should
only be seen as a desperate attempt to impress. : -)
I had dinner with Edward Teller in May of 1983. We actually discussed
Schroedinger's cat while we ate. I don't even remember why, but I
strongly disagreed with him and was prettty rude to the old boy. At the
time he struck me as a foolish NAZI. He'd claimed that a hydrogen bomb
death was morally equal to a bow and arrow death!
Later, when I realized who I'd insulted at that dinner, a world class
physicist and the inventor of the hydrogen bomb, I felt a little ashamed
of my youthful arrogance. But since that time I also learned that he was
the proto-type for the Peter Sellers character in "Dr. Strangelove". So
as it turns out I may have been out of my league, but my impressions of
the man were correct. He is an evil, vile man. Zeig Heil !
