Here's another of my MoQ-meets-the-world papers. It should be
much more readable than my normal ones. <grin>
The Highest Entrance
A Meeting of Thomas More, et al with a Pirsigian
HeavenlyTribunal
(Based on characters from the Fred Zimmerman 1966 movie, A Man
for all Seasons, based on the life and death of Thomas More.)

Note: I'm not saying that Pirsig would espouse a "heavenly
tribunal," but since I, a card-carrying Pirsigian, was assigned
the task of declaring judgment, heavenly-tribunal-style, on the
characters in the movie, I had to do some major mental
gymnastics. I found out I couldn't go back to the traditional
good/bad/heaven/hell viewpoint, (and believe me I considered it,
just to get something turned in). I also couldn't explain, or
even figure it out, in words, and HAD to resort to allegory,
fiction. It wasn't a conscious choice, but a desperate one.
I'd be really interested in knowing whether any of you get
anything out of this.
The movie, if you haven't seen it, is well worth your while.
Thomas More and his dilemma and courage in the face of King
Henry VIII's need for his approval of his divorcing of wives and
becoming head of the Church of England is a worthy exploration
of values.
Cheers,
Maggie
PS. to all you LSers. Things have come up at home that are
keeping me busier than I intended. I hope to get to the
conversation before it's too late, but I don't want anyone to
misinterpret my absence.
