Hi Dynamates,

speaking of periodic:

in the Lila squad and pirsig's own work, Quality is defined as either Static
(like Law) or Dynamic
(like Music). However, there is nothing that is really Static. Everything
changes. So we usually add that caveat to the definition. Accordingly the
definition is weak- by definnition!

i think the duality might be better expressed as Periodic or Chaotic.
Requiring no accompaning explanation - but is in fact saying the same thing-
albeit more accurately.

In this respect, by and large women are periodic (even unto menstruation),
and men chaotic.

I have remained out here in the unmoderated list because the moderated list
is a defensive structure. The idea there is to create an intellectual
game-space where the participants can indulge their intellectual fantasies.
Being a scientist this is of little interest to me. I am keen to develop new
concepts and interpretations rather than intellectually masturbate over old
ones.

Like consciousness itself, the moderated list has "editors" who make sure
that no "naughty thoughts" arise. The self-image is preserved. The orthodoxy
is defended. Understandable, considering the majority of the squad were
attracted to Pirsig because he is a bridge between their own intellectualism
and more frightening direct experience; so defensiveness fits.

Genius and madness are closely linked. The squad affectionately brand me
"the mad irishman" yet ignored my extensions of Prig's work earlier this
year. The "mad" genius has revolutionary ideas. Frightening ideas. So they
ignored their own Copernicus. As ever- passionate detachment is the
precursor to good qualitative analysis of concepts. Downhill from now
on.....

love
