Roger, I find you very patient. Thanks. I might have more discussions with Platt,
but I think we are resolved that being in touch with reality/DQ/value or
"sensitivity to reality" is indeed important. We agree that Pirsig could have
taught more about being sensitive. We also agree that there is value to
conceptualization and thinking intellectually. We can progress onto a more
important step.

Let me explain where I am. I am stuck on the value of thinking of reality in
terms of the levels. I have not been able to harmonize my experience with my
reason. Intellectually, I can not disprove the levels, but from experience I have
never learned anything about my experiences through the levels
in-and-of-themselves.

In my goal of becoming a better person I have three directions. A -- To accept
that Pirisigs ideas are truthful and can not be disproved. I should concentrate
on embracing the MOQ, using it to sort through my life while continuing to expand
my experiences/perspectives. B -- To accept my experience/intuition that trying
to categorize goodness is the wrong approach and -- consequently -- the MOQ must
somehow be wrong conceptually (there is circular logic, etc). I will put Lila on
the shelf, forget about it, and continue my previous philosophy of having an open
mind and never concluding anything about what is good. C -- Be honest with myself
and keep stuggling!

Following option C, I am interested in this...

1. Someone please give an example, where an open-minded, intelligent, sensitive
and experienced person would neccessarily be led astry without some conceptual
understanding of the levels.

*or*

2. If it is *always* possible to experience/understand value without the MOQ and
it is *never* possible to extrapolate un-experienced value stricktly from the
levels of the MOQ, then what the do the MOQ levels give us? If nothing they must
somehow be circular reasoning. It is like the levels dictate certain experiences
have value because they have value! Doesn't use of DQ,SQ,IO-Q,BQ,SQ and IQ
unneccesarily complicate?
