I have to disagree. Metaphysics (as with all investigation) should consider the general AND the
specific, oscillating between the two in order that each be verified and enhanced by the other.
Without this system of checks and balances any investigation will inevitably wander off into
fantasy. The appeal to the metaphysics/physics distinction is misplaced. Physics does not (only),
"concern itself with the specific, (and) metaphysics with the general," as claimed. Physics is all
about generalising from specific data. From the 'general' theory of relativity to the laws of
gravity, every scientific theory is a generalisation.
The LS must concentrate upon both specific and general if it is to have any rational credibility.
