I agree with much of what you said in your post. We should try to stick to
generalities and specifics do tend to trip us up. However, I do think that
debates on your aforementioned topics DO test the theory. The theory I'm
refering to of course is the theory that the MoQ lets us "analyze morals
with greater precision than before" because we can deduce them from moral
codes. If the MoQ doesn't actually back up this impressive boast, then
shouldn't we question its construction or its value? In fact, the problem
that these specifics do constantly trip us up might be the first clue as to
whether or not the MoQ passes the test.
