Kevin - Ignoring the fact that you have twisted my position ('strawman') and failed to address my
concerns with any credible response, (you seem to be surprised when people don't think your
arguments are quite as good as you do) your post was great in that it gave me the best laugh I've
had in over a year on this forum.
Platt is a positivist??? I'm lost for words! The innocent irony is almost too much to bear.
The arguments have been presented and so I'm not going to repeat them here. My only request is that
people read those arguments directly rather than fall for Kevin's inventions, which are, to say the
least, 'economical with the actualite.'
Having said that, even when he distorts arguments to his own ends Kevin still cannot hide the
weakness of his own position.
Just one example of Kevin's poor counter-argument is needed, but there are many more if people care
to look. He writes in response to a very good point from Platt:
"(At first I considered just writing "Ha! Ha! Ha!" over and over again as a
response to this preposterous demonstration, but I later resolved to treat
it with a seriousness it doesn't deserve.)"
(Hmm. . . !)
And follows it up with:
"Yes, of course, Platt's correct in stating so emphatically that static and
Dynamic Quality both need each other, but this doesn't mean a damn thing
without also stating just as emphatically what they need each other for -
to work towards Dynamic Quality!"
With all due respect Kevin, if you can't be bothered to think properly then at least have the
decency not to insult the intelligence of others. Your reply is that DQ needs SQ in order to work
towards DQ. Do I have to spell out how utterly stupid that is? Do you really think that DQ needs SQ
to work towards . . erm . . itself? The same lack of thought pervades all your responses to
rational objections but the thought of pointing each one out in turn bores me silly so I shall
refrain unless it is absolutely required.
Have fun with your games, but if you insist on attaching the epithet 'rational' then at least make a
serious effort to establish them on a rational basis.
