Hi Quality Metaphysicists,
Struan,
I have a question for you, regarding a posting in this thread.
Specifically, it was the posting where you addressed David T. citing of
Pirsig's view on religion.
Struan:
..."David T restates Pirsig's view that religion is
located in the social level. For me this reduces
religion to a shadow of its true status. Religion is
located in every level including the intellectual."...
Please forgive my lack of appreciation for religion when I ask how it
exists on every level. I agree that it exists on our social and
intellectual levels, but I fail to see its existence on the inorganic,
organic and biological levels. As social entities, religions are very
present and of course, many individuals percieve (via their intellect)
or practice them. However, other species, restated: alternate paths of
the biological level probably do not value religion. Additionally, I
would say, the inorganic and organic levels neither value religion, nor
are affected by religion.
As the edge-triggered JK flip-flop within a register of a PC cares not
about whether the computer is sending an e-mail to MoQ discuss or is
running StarWars Rebellion, the constituent protons and photon
wave/particles within our animo acids and hydrocarbon chains do not
value our Hindu, Jedi or Santaria beliefs.
This is just my opinion, I could be wrong and some will disagree. But,
I like David T's call on Pirsig's view of it. Fundamentaly, dude, it
will always be that some of us think more highly of religion than
others.
Take care - Woody
P.S.: I did not write this exclusiveley to state my disgreement. If you
do have an explaination as to how religion infiltrates quantum
mechanics and biochemistry, I would be most interested.
P.S.S.: 13 days!!! 13 days!!! 13 days!!!
