Thank you for your post.
I have been familiar with Carlos Casteneda for 25 years. Also with his
critics. I believe the evidence is overwhelming (read Richard DeMille)
that Casteneda was a fraud and a con man, and that his works are pure
fiction. Casteneda was originally from South America. Those who knew him
there described him as a gambler and a con man. He even once said of
himself, "Oh how I love to throw the bullshit."
DeMille relates a story of a young man who tried to live his life
according his Casteneda's teachings. Once he tore himself free, he
described what he went through as a "psychosis" and said he had wasted
several years of his life.
My opinion of Casteneda (who is now dead), is that, like most con men,
he was a psychopath--no conscience, no guilt, no remorse, taking huge
pleasure in fooling others to "prove" his superiority.
