Hi, Fred,

 Maybe if
>Elvis has contacted me, I'd of gotten more feed back.

Hey, don't be hard on yourself. I've spoken to Elvis a lot in the last few
years and he's not that great of a conversationalist. But then, I'm not a
thirteen-year-old girl either. . . .

Pirsig's ideas are at the very least generative. In fact, this past week I
gave a three-hour presentation/seminar to mid-level managers on some stray
thoughts generated from "Gumptionology." It went over like Gangbusters;
though the talk was peppered with my own experiences and insights, the core
was Pirsig. So many folks today, at least some of those businessfolk I run
into, don't "have time" to think about what they're thinking about. . . .

On Casteneda:

I tried his dream technique one night. I always liked
>flying dreams. . .

Lucid dreaming is a fascinating study. Like you, Fred, I have used the
exercise often, and I have never yet been disappointed. Also like you, I
enjoy the flying dreams; I always find myself more rested and fully aware
after such an escapade. My dreams usually begin in a fertile green field
(think Scotland or Ireland), I will start running, and finally I "slip the
surly bonds of earth. . . " as a kite. Weird? Perhaps, but nonetheless real
when it happens.

On another front, my final examination on *ZMM* is up this Thursday, with a
dry run on Monday for two of my graduating students. I'll be glad to post
impressions if
    a.) anyone's interested, and
    2.) anything interesting surfaces.

Jeff
