My experience has been that you will find no constructive academic
criticism of Pirsig. Mostly he is ignored. When he's not ignored, he's
attacked.
This doesn't particularly surprise me. One of my friends, a college
teacher, refers to his colleagues as 'academia nuts.'
Here you will find constructive criticisms of Pirsig. Personally I
believe he glossed over government much too rapidly. Since I'm working
on an M.S. in Political Science, my interest is applying the MoQ to it.
And I do have criticisms of him, which I post.
It's not as if everyone here considers his books as Bibles.
