Clark says:
I am astounded at the possibilities we overlooked back in the forties.
Had we known beforehand about the bombing of Pearl Harbor we could have
given the Japanese the place and maybe thrown in California as well. Since
we were straight eyed, white, God fearing people I am sure they would not
have treated us like they treated the Chinese. Oh well, live and learn.
Ken

Bill laughs loudly.

Come on Ken, that's funny, but too easy. *Ultimately* all war is
invalid when viewed from the highlands. The Japanese never had a
chance of controlling China or California. Never, ever. Our US
tropical paradise in the islands was in no immenant danger of being
lost in 1945 either. From the vantage point of today, the German
and Japanese aggressions look just sooo stupid it's hard to figure out
what end game they could've possibly imagined. They represented
something like the final chapter in some historical idiot play
that could've been written by Cervantes.

Have you noticed the way we fight wars these days? We only hit hard
enough and long enough to back the folly-filled aggressor out of where
he shouldn't be. The possibilities we overlooked in the forties are
the realities of today. And the "warfare" of tomorrow will be as far
away from the crude ax fights of yesteryear as the ox cart is from
from my new Mitsubishi.

If Bill Gates is listening...you ain't got a chance son.
