Squad,
At least twice now I have seen the reason given for dropping the bombs on
Japan as being to keep the Russians out. This is not the overriding reason.
Remember, the Russians did not have the bomb at this time so we had less
reason to doubt that we could control them. the reason was that the
invasion of Japan would have cost more lives on both sides than dropping
the bombs did. I would like to see some of your history books. Sounds like
hindsight thinking to me. In terms of lives lost it was more moral to use
the bombs than to not use them. I personally would have advocated
continuing to use them even if the first two had not elicited a surrender.
Bill suggested that we could have surrendered to the Japanese but I don't
think I can go that far with the MoQ.
Denis keeps arguing against making a moral crusade out of the MoQ. I
think that he has a point.. I think that DQis operating in each of us even
if we are not aware of it. Witness the dropping of the bombs in WW11 and
what is going on in Serbia now. Think back over history. We no longer kill
and eat each other or enslave each other and so forth. Relax and let the
MoQ do its work. Ken
