All Philosophers: This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.
Jonathan's "argument" is entirely free of any intellectual content. It
deliberately ignores the issues and ideas raised in the genocide debate
in favor of mocking disapproval, a dismissive attitude and the
implication of unfair "tactics". It is pure social level stuff. Its not
really a "thought" so much as an irrational, emotional feeling. Clearly
he has been personally offended by my opinions about world war two.
That's why it comes across not as a intellectual reply, but as an
aggressive lashing out. Thanks Johathan. Its very generous of you to
provide a real life case of social level values pretending to be an
actual idea. And by the way, the invalid intellect I refered to in the
original post was a description of the amoral objectivity in science and
the brittle, cast-iron morality of the Victorians, not you personally.
