Many moons ago on this thread there was a discussion of
Moore-Good-naturalistic fallacy et al.which I did not and still do not quite get,but...
I'm currently reading "What We Owe to Each Other" by T.M.Scanlon, 1998 The
Belnap Press of Harvard University Press, which in spite of its "convoluted
philosophic writing style" seems to be a very good, indepth discussion of
values, good, morals, etc. which he worked on since 1979.
In his early chapters on value (2-6) he argues with some of Moore's positions
on good/value in such a way that seems to avoid the "naturalistic fallacy"
point you posed. If you have read this work could you clue me in on whether
this is true or whether I'm yet again buffaloed by rhetoric.
