These type of moral or ethical dilemma questions have come up regularly here
before. With respect to the MoQ the past responses could be placed into two
broad groups.
1. While the MoQ states the quality ='s values ='s morals, the question is not
a metaphysical question (about the nature of reality) but a ethical question.
If however ethical system in use could not answer the question see # 2.
2. Under the MoQ it's a mute point because question would never arise at the
moment the incident occurs. Given the dynamic nature of the incident you would
act, doing whatever you did, only latter would your intellect and societies
SPoV's kick in trying to qualify your actions.
Ran acrossed the almost identical dilemma discussed in "What We Owe to Each
Other" by TM Scanlon in his arguments for a contractual accounting of morals
and values. Let me warn you thought, either his discussions or I am dense, or both.
