Hello everyone

What if there were enough people who understood Pirsig's work to start a
Quality Party? Who don't care about right or left but what is best.
Hi jc
Have you given consideration to what boards might be used in such a
Quality Party platform? How can Quality be used to illuminate solutions
for such diverse problems as abortion rights, health care, gun control,
environmental issues and overall human rights in general?

I was excited to see that Pirsig himself refered to this idea in a post
to
the moq website extolling the virtues of Abraham Lincoln as a great
American Philosopher. He's right, and that points to some interesting
possibilities for social action, don't you think?
Dan:
Honest Abe. Where did his honesty come from? Did Abraham Lincoln seek
truth? I don't think so. Being from "The Land of Lincoln" I've long held
interest in his work and his career. Honest Abe sought what was Good
over what was true. For this, he died, like Socrates so many years
before him. Abe's honesty came from feeling what was RighT and not from
recognizing truth. One story goes that young Lincoln ran a mile to
return 3 cents a customer had inadvertently left at a store he worked
in. Where is truth in that gesture? Truth is, this story is naive and
simplistic until you recognize aretê contained in his actions. I mean,
after all, his customer would be back, no doubt. Why not just wait and
return his 3 cents then? Why run? But you see, that's what makes such a
story special, and such a man special.
Abraham Lincoln had little formal schooling. He never attended college
or law school yet became a successful attorney. He was tall and gangly,
some said ugly, calling him a "country bumpkin". He grew a beard after a
little girl confided to him that she thought he would look "better" that
way. This self-educated country bumpkin was elected President of our
United States, not once, but twice. Could such a thing happen today? I
honestly don't know. :)
Best wishes
Dan
