MD Joan of Arc

I want to suggest that everyone go see the movie "The Messenger" next month.
It is the amazing true story of Joan of Arc. She's kinda like a female
version of Braveheart (William Wallace/Mel Gibson). And like Braveheart, who
was beheaded at the end of the movie, Joan of Arc also meets a tragic end.
She gets burned alive at the stake. I don't know about you people, but I
think I'd rather be beheaded than burned alive. Anyone interested in history
is probably familiar with the story. Many women in particular find the story
to be very empowering.

The upcoming movie and the historical story are both of very high Quality,
and I only mention it here because I think the life story of Joan of Arc
closely mirrors the life story of Robert M. Pirsig (as told in the closing
chapters of ZMM). The similarities between the two stories are uncanny.
Obviously Pirsig was not physically killed, but in a way he was mentally
killed (like Joan of Arc, he was declared a heretic) with the daily shock
treatments. And both Pirsig and Joan received a kind of "divine inspiration."
Some may disagree with that, but if you think about it long enough a chill
will run up your spine when you realize how much the two stories actually
have in common.

P.S. The girl who plays Joan of Arc in the movie is a babe.
