Ken,
Though I always symphatized with your down-to-earth view of
the MoQ, emphasizing the evolutionary way of Quality, I very
much disagree with you on that sentience stopped the universe
of being a moral universe.
It somehow seems strange to me. You start of with the Big Bang,
that way taking a very broad perspective on Morality. It includes
everything in the universe: atoms, stars, galaxies, planets with,
who knows, maybe even other lifeforms.
You end however, with a very narrow perspective on Morality, namely
one of a man who is dissappointed in (the sentience of) human kind
for what it is capable of.
My take on the damage sentience can do, is this:
Morality is dependent on perspectives and therefore I agree with you
using the term 'universal morality' and making a distinction between
that and human morality (or ethics).
>From the perspective of 'Universal Morality' there is no immorality. It just
doesn't exist. All is good and the scale is from the good to the better.
This way "sentience being capable of understanding the original Quality
evolution and operating in opposition to it" is not possible.
If through the harmful effects of sentience our world will be distroyed, it
only means that biologically speaking the environment for human life
is distroyed and one of the many branches of evolution has come to
an ending. Compare it to the extinction of the dinosaurs if you will.
The changed environment however will give rise to new possibities,
new growth and will start of new branches of evolution.
In short, your viewpoint on sentience is much to antropocentric, which
is kind of strange coming from someone who always shows us the
smallness of man by emphasizing the immensity of the evolution
of the universe
Sentience is the product of the Good (=Quality) and so are the 'products'
of sentience. You can't turn that around and break the continuum of the
evolution of Good in the universe, because it has harmfull consequences
for mankind.
Thanks for listening,
Walter
