No doubt in your mind a cure for cancer is more "valuable" than little
league(high school) baseball. But I have experienced a small slice of the
joy that baseball puts in a child's heart. I think if we eliminated the
collective joy from our children's lives, we might all want to get cancer
and pass on. Besides, the child that you denied (I know that is a stretch)
might have grown up to be a major leaguer, made hundreds of millions of
dollars, and started a cancer foundation.
