Jarod and Miss Parker,

You said, "Off topic: Is Pirsig writing any new books? I surely hope
that he is. Not just to get more of his thoughts on Quality, but he is
also a plain old Damned Fine Writer!"

I have thought of this too. What I want to see is his autobiography.

IMhO, we need that to carry on the MoQ more effectively. As an example,
I find the mass of biographical material on Einstein priceless in
assessing how he arrived at some of his extraordinary paradoxical
conclusions. Ditto Richard P. Feynman, et al.

I think it would be mind-bending and enlightening at the same time to
juxtapose his work with his own self-perceptions. Admittedly, he has
done some of that via his works, but for him to do it with his own
focus, integrity and DQ would show the world his own, self-perceived
values, some of his static pattern repertoire, and how he leverages
Quality in his own life.

One of the saddest things for me, as I approach the end of this phase of
the journey, is how I failed to get to know some of my heroes. I HAD
the chance, but now it is gone from this phase. I regret that.

He does not want to influence us by direct participation in TLS.
Perhaps he feels the same about an autobiography influencing us. I
think his celebrity is fascinating, but that is not what drives my
interest. I want to know about his childhood, the people who influenced
him greatly, his predilections, his heroes and heroines, family,
fetishes and on and on...

Has anyone done a biography on him?

Doug.
