LS More contributions to the four levels at the biological level.

Maggie, and TLS, HELLO!

This is taking longer than I thought. However, I am ready to contribute
my part to the second (biological) level 'definition.' I pretty much
stuck with mammalian biology, avoiding plants and arthropods. Most of
this applies to both, but there are some very interesting SPoV
differences above the scope of this effort.

(BTW, Maggie, I agree with you -- HTML makes this a lot easier to
communicate. I wish all TLS members would UPGRADE to Netscape's
Navigator/Browser. In essence it is free from the Netscape site. IMhO
Netscape is vastly superior to IE 4.0 and Netscape's catechism fits MoQ
where Microsoft's dogma is SOM-like.)

The biological level SPoVs prefer precondition atomic element SPoVs:

· 6 -- atomic element SPoVs (S, C, H, O, N, and P)

Here are a FEW of the biological level SPoVs:

· 2 -- types of acid SPoVs (nucleic and amino)
· 5 -- nucleic acid SPoVs (G, A, T, C, and U)
· 20 -- amino acid SPoVs (See any biology text.)
· 3 -- nucleics per codon SPoVs (e.g., TAG GAG CAT, etc.)
· 1 -- amino acid per codon SPoVs (e.g., Stop Glu His, etc.)
· 2 -- classes of nucleic acid SPoVs (DNA and RNA)
· 2 -- classes of DNA and RNA SPoVs (exons and introns)

S, C, H, O, N, and P correspond to the elements sulfur, carbon,
hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorous. Nucleic SPoVs prefer
precondition atomic SPoVs CHONP. Amino SPoVs prefer precondition atomic
SPoVs SCHON.

G, A, T, C, and U correspond to guanine, adenosine, thymine, cytosine,
and uracil.

NA is Nucleic Acid. D-NA is deoxy-NA and R-NA is ribo-NA.

Codon SPoVs are triplets of the nucleic SPoVs. DNA and RNA are linear
AND recursive sequences of codons. Each codon selects one amino acid.
Protein SPoVs are strings of amino SPoVs specified by the DNA and RNA
SPoVs.

Biological cell SPoVs package DNA in 23 chromosome SPoVs. The DNA SPoVs
and RNA SPoVs alternate strings of codon SPoVs which 'define' protein
SPoVs and strings of NOP (no operation) codon SPoVs. The former are
'exons' for expressed code, and the latter are 'introns' for intervening
code.

The biological level SPoVs are many. There are other large groups of
SPoVs I have not even touched. There are morph SPoVs, shape SPoVs,
handedness SPoVs, hemoglobin SPoVs, energy SPoVs, homeobox SPoVs and on
and on... But this gives you an idea of what I call definitions of
SPoVs in the biological level.

One of the best references I have found for this material is John
Gribbin's "In Search of the Double Helix," Bantam, 1987.

I have two more levels to go: social then intellectual. Though it
seems TLS is doing an excellent job on these.

Hope this helps, Maggie and TLS.

Mtty,

Doug Renselle.
