Hi Martin and TLS,

Martin, glad to have you on board!

Martin said,

"The fight and balance between Dynamic Quality and static
Quality has resulted in an evolution of values, so if we extrapolate
this process backwards in time, what can it tell us about the beginning
of existence?"

I'm not going to take a shot at answering yet. The beginning of existence
is not my end of the spectrum, as I found out to my chagrin when Doug
described what actually goes on in the inorganic level. But I agree with
you that the question should be more than valid. And exciting. I'm
putting it on my back burner to simmer, but something will come of it. I
never know what.

Speaking of simmering, the rest of the squad has been busy this week! I
have at least four letters that I'm burning to answer.

Doug, thanks for your thoughts on the "differing DQ".

Bo, thx for the book reviews.

Magnus, it's really fun to find another Amiga person. (Somehow I'm not
surprised. I liked your explanation of the difference in the cultures of
the machines, and maybe we can follow that down and see what light MoQ has
to shed on those intellectual/social dynamics. Later.).

Hugo and Bo on arete, etc. are fascinating.

Anders, I was worried about you, like maybe you didn't want to play. Glad
you're still here. You make me think.

Gene, I'll get back to the group dynamics shift thing. It might take a
little while to find something beyond supposition. <grin>

James, you blow my mind. How do you do it? I'm off in left field,
maundering around, and you put it back clear.

"A level resists higher levels because it is unable to distinguish it from
lower levels. For instance, the social level resists the intellectual level
because it is unable to distinguish freedom of expression from vice." --

Yes!

Diana, thanks again for hosting this great party.

Everything goes on the back burner for a little while. My daughter is on
vacation for a week, so I have been making use of the time to fullfill some
obligations. I'm trying to pull a bunch of threads together (all the
things I've been doing for the last 10 years), and distill it into a
booklet. The title is Service Projects with Technology, and it's written
mostly by school teachers for school teachers. If I can just do it right,
this one has the potential to put MoQ in practice in the school system.
[You can probably tell, I'm on a roll right now, I'll probably not be
crowing about it later. There's always a problem. HA!] Anyway, you are
all in it, because this conversation has crystallized a lot of things for
me.

Platt, you started my week off with a real ego boost. That got me over a
hump, because after I read your letter, the format of this booklet popped
into my head. I re-sorted my index cards, everything fell out into
balanced chapters, and only two cards were left "unassimilated". They can
stay there, too.

See you guys in a few days. Many truths to you, too!

Maggie
