Subject: MD Distortion of the social-value-space

Hi Johannes,

First, no I did not felt blamed by your remark implying I do not fully
under-
stand the MOQ, that is the case, but I am learning fast.
For my answer to you, it was just, like you said a perspective looking at
things.
I repeat, there is nothing wrong looking at things from some different
perspective, but as a vague answer to your thoughts maded in that post it
see-
med to me that you had difficulties understanding what you have read...
So I answered, 1- the Moq- terms are wrong etc and 2_ that I not well
groun-
ded in the Moq etc,
by which 1- I meant that Pirsig has left holes which we have to fill
by which 2- I meant that 1_ I have doubts that everything is so elegant and
beautiful as the Moq swears it is, and
2_ that I have noticed a certain surprise by you evocating that other
persons
thoughts ( in that case mine) left you confused evocating that everything is
not
so elegant and beautiful.
No harm done, what so ever, we just IMO misunderstood eachother, expres-
sing ourselves in a foreigner language, my native is Dutch, leaves us with
twists
and turns we don 't fully understand.

So, that said, back to reality, back to your " value- distortion ".
First reading the stuff I had' t a clue, but by the second and third draft
it did
ring a bell, it is something similar to what I call a Social Relation
Tranfer,
first coined by Dr Jesserun a Dutch psychologist.
I think it would be of some interest to you, but I have to translate my
writings
into English first. By the time being, I think tomorrow night you may expect
the post here upon this list.

Now, the Volksgeist, the most difficult part of all.
I do apologize, but that is really not what I meant.
I said millions not eveybody and saying that Germans have a special gene
for mass murder is indeed no serious hypothesis.
But, there is always a but, IMO and I hope I do not offend you or your
country fellowmen, a gene for murder no, but, mass murder was the result of
some pre- memetic and pre- genetic rules.
Let me explain, and remerber I more a Lamarckian than a Darwinian.

Germany was already defeated once, but the dream to built a Reich was still
alive. Due to external facts, Europe was in turmoil, Germany was punished,
the German people took strenght out of their misery, helped by politicians
who
promised them paradise.
Especially in Germany those days, phylosophy was in fact contra-
revolutionary, that is revolting against to what exist now and rebuilt the
society
upon old and therefor better values.
Those values were, partly expressed in the constitution of the Weimar repu-
blic ( 1918-1933).
On a cultural level Germany was in those days the highpoint of the
international
artistic and INTELLECTUAL avant- garde ( Heidegger, Nietsche, Smitt,
Splengler) who, not all and some partly) expressed ' feelings ' towards NS.

What I would like to evocate by all this is that during that time, say from
1900
untill 1950 people were ' infected ' by the society where they do lived in.
One of my major interest points is that I believe ( as a Lamarckian) that
ideas,
memes, intellectual patterns can be inherited by the next generation while
the
Darwinistic natural selection would have taken more time.
So, in a nutshell, people born around 1900 were 14 in 1914, saw how
Germany was tragged once again into a war, saw Germany was defeated in
1918, once again, those guys built them a society with their bare hands,
felt
how they were punished by Europe and the world, and by the time they all
reached 30 is was to late. They sworn in Hitler as their leader and the rest
is
history.

And not that I will evocate that the same thing is happening once again, but
due
to the fact that the same circumstances are in place in many European
countries
( lost of identity due to the unification of Europe is one reason) I fear
that a
little spot will light up Europe again.
There is only one remedy, take away the circumstances by which extreme ideas
flourish.
That is IMO set alive Society with the Intellectual.
That is, we people upon this list, must evocate their ideas to the world, it
takes
time, but we will.... we must succeed eventually...

Hope this clears up....

Best regards,

Kenneth
