Elephant - Thank you, I beleive I now understand. In order for the rule
"Every rule has an exception" to be true, there couldn't be a rule with no
exception. But the only way for this rule to be true is to have a rule,
namely itself, which had no exception. Therefore the statement that "Every
rule has an exception" must be a false statement.

...because if that rule has no exceptions, then, the rule in question being
the rule that all rules have exceptions, it follows that it has exceptions.
Having exceptions and not having exceptions at the same time it is a
contradiction. QED.
