I am unsure exactly what we mean by "government." Are we talking about the
Giant? or about our friends and nieghbors and ourselves who are the
government? While I am pretty much apolitical myself I do know my district's
US Representative (who is also Speaker of the House) quite well and consider
myself friends with the mayor of my little town as well as most of the
aldermen here. We see each other on the street and stop and talk about the
bumpy railroad crossing or what streets need repair and how best to fix it
or any number of seemingly mundane things but that IS government here.
That's grass-roots Dynamics. And I trust these men and women enough to vote
for them anyhow. I would like to think that if I were ever called upon to
serve I would do as good a job.
Now. When I see pictures on tv of our government in action it almost seems
like a poorly tamed beast...the Waco disaster, Ruby Ridge, etc. That
government I think we are all scared of, but I am not sure how to find that
government, or if it even exists at all except in the mistakes we mortals
are all prone to make. And it is those mistakes which lead to a police state
sense of paranoia and gives rise to fanatics that blow up buildings in the
name of freedom. And that is not just an American phenomenon...
Take care
Dan
