MD A few observations

Here are a few observations that might make for some good discussion.
1. Pirsig states that static patterns are comstantly moving towards DQ, but
1 one major exception is the "american dream" which seems to call for a
completely static existence with a steady job, a typical family, and a
static soceity to live in. What may be the source of the idea that a static
existence is the key to fulfillment?
2. In Lila, our current society is described as one that has lost is
cultural immune system and reverted to biological values. It is interesting
to note that as this problem is is taking place at the societal level, it is
encouraging the spread of AIDs, which destroys a biological immune system.
3. It seems that free will can only take place at the Dynamic level. At the
biological level people can only follow their emotions, at the societal
level they can only follow their society, at the intellectual level they can
only follow facts. Only at the Dynamic level is an individual able to make
a decision that is not determined by an external force.
