MD Bridge to East?

Clarke, Bo, all

Clarke:

> I actually found it odd when I first joined
> this Group to discover its international flavor
> because I had no idea that Pirsig's work
> had transcended so many boundaries.

But only western boundaries, seemingly. We all guess that the MOQ is a bridge to
unify Eastern and Western philosophies:

"As the title of Pirsig's first book, suggests, much of the MOQ has to do with a
non-intellectual Zen-like view of the universe. Yet Pirsig departs from Eastern
thinking by arguing that reason and logic are just as important in seeking
understanding. Pirsig is not the first philosopher to try and bridge the gap
between science and mysticism, however with the MOQ he elevates the whole debate
to a new level by structuring both paradigms round a single concept -- value. "

Given that:
a - I've recently heard that Japan is the second country (after the USA) in the
world in terms of internet users.
b - Japan has a lot to say both about Zen and Motorcycles
c - There's almost no Japanese (and Chinese, Indian... ) trace on the lists

The question is: Why aren't there Orientals walking upon the bridge?

The sage Bo has a possible answer:

> What I should have liked was the appearance
> of a real Zen master from Japan or a Buddhist
> theorician (is that a word?), but perhaps the
> Eastern Sage is a Western dream; they are as
> bewildered as we are.

Well, it could be also that the MOQ as bridge to East is a MOQish dream......
