Uhm... building an intellectual bridge from a system of static patterns to another
is already a very valuable work. Unlike physical bridges, building an intellectual
bridge that can be walked in both directions is a titanic effort, a giant crossword
if you will. That would mean that ZAMM would have explained east in western terms
*and* west in eastern terms, which are two completely different things. Who knows,
maybe there's a japanese Pirsig who did the bridge E 2 W - we would be the last to
know it, anyway.

Apart from that, it strikes me as amazing that so few japanese ppl appear in mailing
lists, newgroups, etc at all - on any subject. There definitely is a *major*
cultural gap between Japan and the west (much more so, apparently, than with Thai,
Indian, Filipines, or other eastern cultures), playstation (and pornography)
seemingly (and sadly) being among the main common interests. (Not meant as criticism
against japanese, of course).
