SQUONK:
On a global scale we have a problem unless the higher freedom of
intellectual patterns can be applied. Sadly, the dominant patterns being
applied by
the US are economic, i.e. Social.
The IT revolution has radiated images of what the other half are enjoying
at the expense of those being suppressed by the very same system.
The IT revolution has also provided opportunities for global
organisations to operate without a geographical base.
Until the resources are spread around GLOBALLY with more equanimity; as
long as inequality and privilege are displayed with such glaring disregard for
those without, then the revolution will be inevitable.

ROG:
OK, I will ask....

Exactly how is it that we suppressed economic advancement in all these
countries over the past 4000 years or so? What needs explaining is why
free enterprise democracies have been so successful since their creation (and
the answer wasn't exploitation), not why primitive societies stayed that
way.(If you want the lesson I can provide it)

SQ:
In a word: Oil.

ROG:
The last I checked, the Mmiddle Eastern and Latin American countries and
Russia had most of the world's oil reserves. And to my knowledge, we buy it.
That should make THEM the wealthy ones...right? Japan has no oil that I know
of; how did they get so rich?

And btw, petroleum was a recent discovery in the history of man. Western
democracies such as Britain and America became strong before petroleum even
became important. The real question is who discovered how to efficiently
extract it and to put petroleum to productive uses. Of course, I bet you
know the answer to that one.....

You need a better word.
My one word response....NOT!

> Next question.... Who gets to decide what is equal? You? What if we
> disagree? How many more of our citizens will you murder? At what length
 of
> atrocity are you prepared to go to force equanimity?

SQ:
Equanimity is that which at this time not being shared.
In a world of extreme differences of access to resources, those who have
extreme access to resources should share what they have access with those who
have little or no access at all.
Primarily this means food, shelter, medical provision and dignity.
If i ever become hungry enough i will steal in order to feed myself.
As for the enforcing of equanimity? In order for equanimity to reach
equilibrium there has to be a degree of variance from that which constitutes
equilibrium, and that which constitutes a variance from equilibrium is
radiated throughout the world in images of gross opulent US materialism.

ROG:
You seem confused. Wealth doesn't come primarily from natural resources, it
comes from knowledge and the freedom to create and capitalize on that
knowledge. Japan again has no significant natural resources. Rhode Island
and Providence Plantations has no significant resources. Hong Kong to the
best of my (limited) knowledge has no significant resources...other than
knowledge and liberty and rule of law. Your one word is oil, and then you
base your argument supporting middle east anger based upon them not having
the one thing that you say is all important. I have one word in
response....ODD

But your best statement is...."As for the enforcing of equanimity?
In order for equanimity to reach
equilibrium there has to be a degree of variance from that which constitutes
equilibrium, and that which constitutes a variance from equilibrium is
radiated throughout the world in images of gross opulent US materialism."

One word in response....HUH?

> And finally, what made us privileged? Did we just get lucky? Are the
great
> equalizer?

SQ:
Nope. You steal Oil.
If those peoples who are not Saudi Aristocrats had access to an equal
distribution of wealth generated by Oil revenue, then there may be at least a
few less hungry people in the world?

ROG:
I steal oil? No, I buy oil. Saudis sell oil. Why do you want us bombed for
buying things? If you have problems with exploitation by totalitarian Saudis
of their people, then say so.

Here, the oil we produce locally is drilled at great expense and risk by
corporations, most of which are publicly owned by people (of all nations)
like me. We own corporations, we discover methods of finding and drilling, we
fund the risk and delivery, we creat cars and airplanes to use the petroleum,
etc.

SQ:
Fine words for a free thinking individual.
 Knifed any Muslims lately?

ROG:
I have no issue with any religion. I have a problem with terrorists.

Eaten any cake lately?
