Don't be too upset with John B. He is a great fan of Erich Fromm who,
as I learned from a brief search on the net, was a Marxist of the first
order. Take a look at:

but anti-democracy, anti-capitalism, anti-consumerism, anti-
materialism . . . well, you name it.
It is amazing how much of the hate America rhetoric on this site can be
traced right back to Fromm and his fellow travelers. Yes, the flower
children of the sixties, who Pirsig rightfully condemned for their
stupidity and immorality, are alive and well and still trying to spread
their Marxist collectivist theories in the name of love. Must be that
Cuban paradise under Fidel that holds a strange attraction.
