Re: MD Be thankful it wasn't your sisterTanya and Sam,
Check out the MD archives for March 2000. There are 3 posts written by Diana McPartlin under the thread "Problems with Pirsig" (sort it by author and just look for Diana's name, you can't miss 'em). These are the posts I was thinking of when I mentioned a "laundry list". They discuss the Eskimo Vocabulary problem among others. I haven't yet found the specific post where the "black box" comment was made, but I'm still looking.

Dear Rick,
I'd be grateful if you could point me to this 'laundry list' too when you find it.
I searched the 'Lila child' site that Platt referred me to :
http://members.tripod.com/~Glove_r/Childintro.htm
using the key words, 'black' 'box' and 'Eskimo' and don't think I stumbled upon it there.
thank you,
love,
Tanya
Sam,
The "black box" observation comes (as far as I know about it) from a post by Diana McPartlin, from about a year or two back, in which she ran down a laundry list of previous criticisms of LILA which had never found satisfactory resolutions. I'm not sure what the post was called, I'll search for it in the archives and send it to you if I find it.
