I've been thinking about this fifth-level possibility these last few days,
while sailing.
If it doesn't exist, we had better invent it. The level of the Intellect
allows too simplistic a manipulation. Many years ago, I gave to a group
called 'Ecology of Knowledge' a talk in which I argued that we were already
out of the 'Age of Information" and into an "Age of Action." I wonder if I
wasn't aiming for something that might be construed as a fifth level.
If so, it would have something to do with vision and action, and one of its
implications might be that 'the future belongs to the activists.' At the
fifth level, we don't reason our way through life, but create realities by
taking action. I have a section on what might constitute guidelines for
'healthy, good' action, vs. undesirable or harmful action. I would very much
like to hear your thoughts and those of other list members on this.
I think I might be able to find an electronic version of that paper if you
would like to see it.
