Denis, Bo and all
Denis, your good post triggered many thoughts about the role of language (as
I told you, I'm not anymore convinced of language as machine code for the
Q-Intellect) and I'm trying to put them together in a post. I need time. In
the meanwhile, I have to comment this exchange between you and Bo:
Denis:
> > As everyone here remembers, Quality can be divided according to the
> > MOQ into Dynamic Quality and Static Quality, the Unexpected and the
> > Expected. SQ is further divided into the four levels of patterns of
> > value, namely Inorganic, Biological, Social and Intellectual levels.

> > "Dynamic Quality".
Bo:
> As said I "recant" about the QUALITY that can be divided into
> DQ/SQ. I don't have LILA with me, right here, but this extra meta-
> quality causes a whole can of worms to open and I doubt if Pirsig
> says so at all ...or means it that way at least.
M:
ehm... For what I remember, he writes "Dynamic Quality".
yes.... Lila, chapter 12:
«...static patterns of value are divided into four systems:
inorganic patterns, biological patterns, social paterns and intellectual
patterns. They are exhaustive. That's all there are. If you construct an
encyclopedia of four topics - Inorganic, Biological, Social and
Intellectual - nothing is left out. No "things" that is. Only Dynamic
Quality, which cannot be described in any encyclopedia, is absent».
Anyway, I really don't understand where is the problem. Pirsig clearly
states that Quality has a double aspect/nature/role....
Quality is undefinable, yet there are definitions on this world, aren't
they? So, as the MOQ is a monism, we can't state that definitions are
*outside* that *Oneness*. So we have *simultaneously* D & S, *aspects* of
the one Q....
Am I missing something? Let me know.
Ciao,
Marco
