Great post and one that I mostly agree with but I think one of the major problems here is not just that
Struan doesn't accept that the Metaphysics of Quality is not valid but that there is no such thing as a valid
metaphysics - be it subject/object, materialistic or Hedgehog Rabbit Metaphysics. Unfortunately Struan,
in the best tradition of the Logical Positivsts, appears to subscribe to the school of thought that rejects
Metaphysicts and effectively reduces Philosophy to linguistic analysis.
Unfortunate really given that this list is to do with Philosophy in general and MoQ in particular.
Additional to this is the particular way in which Struan phrases his postings, eg -
"Every philosopher and physicist of note is surely aware that any theory will have at least some undefined
terms...."
in other words, if they don't then they aren't of note and in consequence are not worth regarding. So if you
don't agree with Struan then you are wrong.
In general, engaging in debate with Struan, although fascinating - just to see which questions he runs
away from - is ultimately pointless because if it does look like he's losing the argument he'll resort to
evasion and insult.
But as Rog says - I could be wrong.
