Hi Roger, Sam,

Just to agree with your suggestion, Roger, that some static latching is
needed if these debates are ever to go anywhere.

I suggest that we trial the idea that someone puts up a particular topic,
moderates it themselves, then does a summary, and see if it works.

What always frustrates me is that often no one responds to what appears the
key point in a developing argument. It's either evaded, if unpalatable, or
perhaps others just don't see its relevence. I suspect if the author of the
debate was also moderating it, this might not happen. On the other hand, it
could be that it's just more attractive to fire abuse at each other than do
some solid thinking and defending of one's position. There's an awful lot of
philosophology going on, that leads nowhere, much of the time.

I wonder if your recent question would not be a good starting point.

"What do the patterns of higher quality have that those of destruction,
decay
and disorder don't?" (That is to me the fundamental question arising out of
the
MOQ. I have lots of thoughts, but none conclusive yet. What do you guys
think?)
