This month, John asked me to try to semi-moderate a specific question and
then to work with the group to summarize it. The idea was to see if we could
informally take the stream of posts on a topic and condense the arguments and
positions into a useful summary so that in the future we could benefit by
going to a tight, concise package that summarizes the major issues, positions
and learnings on a topic.

Each of you answered THE Q (under this heading) with various arguments along
the lines that destruction, decay and disorder are or can be patterns of
quality. I countered each of your examples with a different interpretation.

I am not yet aware of any response to my counterpoints. It could be that you
are still working on it, or that you didn't see my answer, or that you agreed
with me and so didn't respond, or that you thought I was a rude SOB and so
didn't respond, or several other possible interpretations. I don't mean to
rush you. If you need more time, please feel free to take it, but since I am
moderating and summarizing, if one of the other reasons is indeed the case,
it would probably help the process if you make your position explicit. (In
other words, As a moderator I am now pointing out that a commonly shared
persective on the topic is 'hanging out there' in need of a counter to the
counter.)

I can resend the posts in question if you need me to. Everyone else is also
encouraged to jump in on the question or on the above unfinished angle.
