I have been thinking about what it takes for something to pass the Nazi test.
This test reminds me of something known as the in group - out group
phenomenon. Pride in an in-group automatically deflates the value of an
out-group. There have been studies showing how easy it is to create this
phenomenon. In a camp they just gave one group the name Eagles and the other
group the name Rattlers. Competition between the two groups was not reduced by
talking talking with the kids about the value of the other groups it was only
reduced by giving them a task to do in which they had to cooperate. In a sense
the only thing that worked was turning the two groups into one group.

I think evolution needs to be recognized as a global pattern or else it will
never pass the Nazi test. I think we need to conscientiously use culture for
the good of the whole earth community. Somewhere I remember reading in the
archives someone describing the earth as an organism. Although some cultures
may have higher status if they are doing damage to this organism it makes me
wonder about that quote in the Matrix where that guy describes humans as a
virus. If we are more worried about our own survival than our host it is kind
of true no?
