Hi Wim,
Please ignore my previous email. I realized I didn't write the quote correctly
and when I was trying to correct it I accidently sent it. The quote that I got
a kick out of was " he is a well-intentioned European liberal
who refuses to see Israel's problem in existential terms". I am sorry my last
email made it more sound like apathy rather than nonviolen attitude. I really
like what you have to say on all of the posts i have read of yours. I also
liked your point of Wilber (says rather than shows like Pirsigs). I just
started reading my first Wilber book and have a few things that don't settle
right but I am less than 1/4 finished and feel it may be to premature. Do you
know how he talks about how egocentrism declines. As I am working on my PHD in
developmental psychology I can assure you that is true BUT David Elkind's
works shows that in adolescence another type of egocentricm occurs with the
new ability to think abstractly. I find it funny that as we grow older we
become less and less egocentric and then with our ability to think abstractly
we start on a quest for "absolutes" and become more and more egocentric!!!!
He grossly oversimplifies the postmodernist movement that warns us of these
absolutes (while admitting that there is always a future theory- that is
admitting to a level of subjectivity in everyt theory).
So it is way to premature to come to a complete conclusion about this Wilber
but part of me wants to stay on the green meme (nice down to reality I mean
earth color) and try to collect as many perspective of realities as possible
because that is the approach that seems to have the deepest consciousness.
Again I haven't read much I may have to eat my words later but that is o.k. i
don't mind making an ass out of myself.
