PLATT:
Now my question is: "Are not thoughts, symbols, maps, menus, signs,
pointing fingers and the like as "real" as more tangible things such as
talk, banyan trees and moons?
>
3WD: But personally Ihave no problem with common "Realism" and think it is a
reasonable position to defend for all levels including the intellectual. With
theidealist caution, not that all things are created by the mind, but all
>things from any individual PoV will be colored, filtered, twisted, by
>the perceptor based on past experience and other conditions like the
>current state of values on all the other levels.

ERIN: I think that a pointing finger is "real" but is through a "reality
tunnel" so I would say the moon is "more real" But I think Platt's question
was interesting because it made me think about whether an abstraction of an
abstraction should be considered "less real"? So if each level twists,
filters, colors material from the other level is it less real?
