Glenn, all
Ok so nobody disputes claim 1..thats a good start!
As for statement 2 I didn't say that the speed of light didn't vary
dependant upon the refractive index of the medium it is passing through,
what I said was that light moves away from an object at C, this is totally
independent of the medium.

There is nothing in this universe that we can prove 100% to 100% of people,
but what is the point of constantly disagreeing with something, because it
supports your argument to do so, when logically it makes sense to agree!
I can't see any way round this!!
As for the Chaos theory conjecture , all chaotic systems can be simplified
to their base components, and it is these, basic "elements" which are
predictable and/or described by scientific truth. It is only the behavior of
these basic elements which appears to be chaotic, but just because something
appears chaotic to us now, it may not be so for all time!!!
Rick
And for Pirsig to say that gravity did not exist before newton is simply
outrageous and argumentative on his part, and for you to use this as support
for any argument beggars belief
Let's agree that when writing ZMM I am certain that Pirsig did not mean for
every sentence, every paragraph to stand up to scrutiny independently.
