Hi Platt,
PLATT:
Yes, the focus is on the origin of the universe. Science's current best
theory says the universe originated from nothing. The MOQ says the
universe originated from Quality or dharma, the principle of rightness.
This not only directly contradicts science's "oops" theory of the origin of
universe, but its explanations of subsequent developments as well. To
attribute many fundamental changes to chance, as science does to
avoid any hint of the supernatural, is not so much an experimental
conclusion as an admission of ignorance.
RISKY:
Science's theory, though admitedly fantastic and counterintuitive, does
benefit from being consistent with quantum theory and Heisenberg's
uncertainty principle. It is the best theory so far, though subject to
improvement as more knowledge comes along (more than likely considering the
challenging subject matter) . To offer a theory that the universe started out
of the "principle of rightness" is akin to saying "fairies started it" or "
it was formed out of the ass of a giant ant" (an actual creation myth) or
that "God built it." There is no scientific value in any of these. They are
simply primitive, pre-intellectual attempts to explain away the question.
Science is built upon the recognition of our ignorance and that we need to
search for answers and to avoid unfalsifiable, authoritative dogma. What
evidence have you that chance couldn't be a factor? Why do you want to put
this explanation off limits if it is better than all others?
PLATT:
I don't see the MOQ as contradicting science so much as
supplementing it with a deeper explanation of why things happen as
they do.
RISKY:
I see it as supplementing science with a more flexible world view or
paradigm. I can't think of any superior scientific explanations in the MOQ
though. Not one.
