Risky, Wim, Erin, All
I've just had a epiphany of sorts... I've just been watching a history of
Freud on the BBC, in it was the story of Edward Bernays, who along with
President Hoover, instigated many of Freuds ideas, namely to stimulate our
non rational inner selves by making us all consumers, thereby making us
relatively content, and therefore relatively docile.
the rise of consumerism it seems was an idea arising out of the need to
control democracy in the wake of falling victorian values.
I am dumbfounded to say the least, that governments, after losing the
explicit control of democracy after world war 1, when victorian values
crumbled after so many died defending them, the proceeded to gain control
once more by tapping into our psyche... how can there be any progress
against such cynical manipulative giants, giants that we are happy to say we
vote for, and trust to do the best for us as individuals, not just use us as
pawns in some huge game, the game of "economic progress".
The result of this political ploy, are still in evidence today, esp. in the
US and Europe, any step to progress, is going to have to somehow sidestep
this evergrowing obstacle to personal freedom.
I'm sorry to have to say this, but it seems that the USA, and all those
living there, are part of the biggest social control experiment there has
ever been, and countries which follow it's lead , like the UK are condoning
this experiment
"control their desires, and you control them completely"
Maybe you all knew this, but it has come as a shock to me to realise the
extent of govermental manipulation of us in our everyday lives.
More concerned than ever
