Hi Gavin, Rog and All

Good post Gavin - but I fear it will be disregarded by many as it fails to conform to the
preferred dominant social patterns. However......

I just noticed this one.
The figures I have seen used by the US Department of Defense are around 3 million
plus. These figures refer to the number of Civilians killed including a number of other
non-American casualties in the area (Cambodia, Laos etc.) as a direct result of the
conflict. I would imagine that the total loss of lives, including American Military, South
Vietnamese Military, North Vietnamese (military and non-military), Australian, Canadian
etc. probably pushed the figures up to around 4 to 5 million (at a rough guess). But a
thought occurred to me regarding this and Rogers comments above.

If 4 to 5 million lives are regarded as a 'regrettable and educational mistake' then why all
the fuss about a couple of thousand stiffs in the World Trade Centre? So what! This
must be thought of in the above terms as pretty inconsequential (or of at least 1500
times less consequence - @4500000 / 3000 ). Not particularly educational or by
implication even regrettable. A mere blip.

Or is it because those killed in the World Trade Centre were mainly American lives?

Roger, how can you possibly justify a statement like that, regarding 4 to 5 million lives
as a 'regretable and educational mistake'? Would you be so cavalier about it if it had
been 4 to 5 million American lives. Would you care to justify the holocaust in similar
terms? A bit of a cock-up on Adolfs part, but hey! just chalk it up to experience?
